about

Michael Hurley came to play les ateliers claus early May 2013. A few days prior to the concert Michael flew into Brussels. For reasons - lets say unknown - Michael wasn’t picked up at the airport and tried to make his way to a hotel. There’s was no connection with Michael and we had no clue where he was. Nobody had. He went missing until a few hours prior to the concert.
Michael Hurley showed up - not very happy - telling us how he missed his pickup and checked into a random hotel. For some reason Michael managed to book himself a room in one of the shabbiest hotel - restaurants in Brussels.
Happy to be amongst people and fans again, Michael played a long set, just not enjoying enough wine to forget about his lonesome adventure.
We gave number 13 with this reason to Michael Hurley.

Michael Hurley (born December 20, 1941) is an American folk singer-songwriter who was essential to the Greenwich Village folk music scene of the 1960s and 1970s. In addition to playing a wide variety of instruments, Hurley is also a cartoonist and a painter. Hurley’s debut album, First Songs, was recorded for Folkways Records in 1965 on the same reel-to-reel machine that taped Lead Belly’s Last Sessions. He was discovered by blues and jazz historian Frederick Ramsey III, and subsequently championed by boyhood friend Jesse Colin Young, who released Hurley’s next two album on The Youngbloods’ Warner Brother’s imprint,. Hurley made three albums for Rounder Records; Have Moicy! (1975), Long Journey (1976), and Snockgrass (1980) which after being out of print for decades are now being reissued on Light In The Attic Records.
